Two companies have formed a partnership to deliver commercial egg-freezing services to women in New England.

Extend Fertility Inc., a Boston provider of fertility preservation services, said that Boston IVF will be the sixth US fertility-center company to offer Extend Fertility’s egg-freezing protocol. It lets women in their reproductive prime, often described as 35 or younger, to bank eggs for future use.

Based in Waltham, Boston IVF also has locations in Brookline and Quincy.

‘‘Egg freezing has the potential to become as powerful as the birth control pill in women’s reproductive health,’’ Extend Fertility’s chief executive, Christy Jones, said in a prepared statement.
