The vacancy rate for lab space in Cambridge, a hotbed of biotechnology, dropped nearly five percentage points in the last year.
That was one headline in a first-quarter report titled "bioSTATus" issued by Richards Barry Joyce & Partners LLC, a commercial real estate firm based in Boston.
On March 31, the vacancy rate in the Cambridge lab market was 9.6 percent, compared with 14.5 percent on March 31, 2006, Richards Barry Joyce said.
The release of the 2007 spring report happened to coincide with the BIO International Convention, now underway in Boston.
