Dunkin' Donuts said today it has received a MenuMasters Flame of Innovation award for its Sausage Supreme Omelet Breakfast Sandwich.

Dunkin' Donuts, a subsidiary of Dunkin' Brands Inc. of Canton, said the menu item won in the category of "best single product rollout."

The MenuMasters Award, presented annually by the editors of Nation's Restaurant News, a trade publication, recognizes "excellence in food service research and development," Dunkin' noted.

Dunkin's winning entree seemingly packages a breakfast fit for a lumberjack into a portable format.

Ingredients include scrambled eggs stuffed with scallions, hash brown potatoes, Monterey Jack cheese, Swiss cheese, diced red and green peppers and "fire-roasted mushrooms," topped with American cheese and "hearty sausage" served on a plain bagel, Dunkin' said.

"The Sausage Supreme Omelet satisfies customers who want a great-tasting, quality breakfast they can enjoy on the go," Joe Scafido, the chain's chief creative and innovation officer, said in a statement.
