Fish elected to American Academy
Lawrence K. Fish of Citizens Financial Group was among the more than 200 scholars, scientists, and business leaders elected this year to American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Citizens said.
Fish is chairman of Citizens Financial of Providence, which operates banks under such names as Citizens Bank and which is owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC; Fish also holds the title of chairman of RBS America.
Headquartered in Cambridge, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences was founded during the American Revolution by such legendary figures as John Adams and John Hancock, according to the academy's Web site.
Other new fellows this year include former Vice President Albert Gore Jr., former Supreme Court Associate Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
