Forrester: "green" tech lagging
Most companies have yet to build "green" requirements into how they buy and use technology, according to a report unveiled today by Forrester Research Inc.
The Cambridge technology and market research company said a survey of 124 information-technology operations and procurement professionals in North America and Europe found that only a quarter said they have written green criteria into their company's purchasing processes, despite a high awareness of environmental concerns.
The survey included in-depth interviews with more than two dozen respondents, and Forrester said one chief technology officer told its researchers: "We would do green because it makes business sense, not because it's green. It would have to show cost savings."
