Hearth named "housing hero"

Citizens Bank of Massachusetts said today it has named Hearth Inc. as its "2007 Housing Hero."

As part of the award, Heath will receive a $50,000 grant from the Citizens Bank Foundation, the bank said.

Hearth of Boston is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending homelessness among the elderly.

The Housing Heroes award-and-grant program is an extension of the Citizens Housing Bank, a low-interest loan program designed to increase the affordable housing supply in the state, Citizens said.
