Holland Mark re-opens
A once-shuttered Boston ad agency, Holland Mark, is reopening its doors as a five-person shop, chief executive Chris Colbert said today.
In an earlier era, Holland Mark created ads for such clients as T.J. Maxx and The Boston Globe, but the agency closed in the wake of the dot-com bust, Colbert said.
Many traditional ad agencies are challenged by the Internet, which has devalued the 30-second TV ad, long the cash cow of the Madison Avenue business model, but Colbert sees an opportunity for a new kind of agency that combines "left-brain analytics and right-brain creative sensibilities."
Joining Colbert in this grand experiment is another veteran of the original Holland Mark, Lisa Hickey, as well as Tim Stevenson.
The new Holland Mark, Colbert said, begins with assignments from such clients as Boston mutual fund giant Fidelity Investments and Zipcar, the Cambridge-based car-sharing service.
