Metabolix Inc., which is developing biodegradable plastics from corn sugar, today said that chairman Jay Kouba will replace James J. Barber as president and CEO, effective immediately.
Kouba has served as a member of the board since June 2006 and was appointed chairman in April 2007. He has held executive positions at BP, Amoco, and Innovene.
Cambridge-based Metabolix said Barber, president and CEO since January 2000, resigned today.
Metabolix went public in November.
