Millipore Corp. of Billerica said today it will market and sell a California company's products to its biopharmaceutical customers.

Millipore said it made the announcement at the BIO 2007 International Convention meeting in Boston.

According to Millipore, a provider of products and services that improve productivity and results in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, it will market and sell a Mycoplasma Tissue Culture Non-Isotopic test made by Gen-Probe Inc. of California.

The test that Millipore will help sell is a DNA-probe based system that can be combined with Millipore's sample preparation products to quickly and cost-effectively detect mycoplasma, the companies said.

Today's announcement builds on a collaboration formed between the two companies in 2005 to create faster, more accurate tests for bacteria, viruses, mycoplasma, and other contaminants commonly found in pharmaceuticals.
