Moms want solitude, not room service
Forget breakfast in bed - on Mother's Day, many multitasking moms would prefer to impersonate Greta Garbo, the late actress who famously said, "I want to be alone!"
That's one finding of a new survey commissioned by Dunkin' Donuts, the Canton-based chain of coffee shops operated by Dunkin' Brands Inc.
Nearly 70 percent of the more than 1,500 women surveyed said they would rather sleep or have uninterrupted time to themselves than get breakfast in bed on Mother's Day, Dunkin' Donuts said.
And nearly 80 percent of today's mothers said they were torn equally between spending an extra hour with their children or by themselves, Dunkin' Donuts said.
Here's some bad news for the guys: If they were given an extra hour in their day, less than 20 percent of mothers said they would choose to spend that time with their spouse or partner, according to the survey.
