Monster, a careers resource for employers and job hunters with offices in Maynard, said today it has signed an alliance with another newspaper chain.

This alliance is with Community Newspaper Holdings Inc., an Alabama that publishes many newspapers across the country in smaller media markets; according to the company's web site, it publishes such Massachusetts newspapers as the Gloucester Daily Times, the Eagle-Tribune in North Andover, and the Salem News.

The alliance will result in roughly 80 co-branded career web sites between Monster and one of the company's newspapers, the companies said.

Since July, Monster said it has forged agreements with media companies representing more than 200 news publications and eight television properties.

In February, Monster disclosed such a relationship with The New York Times Co., whose properties include The Boston Globe and Boston.com; last week, Monster, the Globe, and Boston.com unveiled a co-branded web site for Boston area employers and job seekers.

In a statement, Monster North America president Doug Klinger addressed his firm's new alliance with Community Newspaper Holdings, or CNHI.

"Monster's alliance with CNHI helps make it easier than ever for local employers and job seekers in smaller markets to tap into Monster's capabilities," he said.

Monster is the flagship brand of Monster Worldwide Inc. of New York.
