Governor Deval Patrick is expected to claim the first payoff from his $1 billion life-science plan this afternoon, when he announces that Organogenesis Inc. has decided to expand in Canton rather than locating its new operations elsewhere. The company manufactures artificial skin grafts made from living cells. Although none of the specifics of the $1 billion plan have been worked out with the Massachusetts Legislature, an aide to the governor said Organogenesis executives were encouraged by his announcement of support for the state's life-science industry, which could generate tax breaks for companies that create new jobs in the state.
