The union representing 400 registered nurses at Lawrence General Hospital said today it has filed for mediation in an effort to "break the logjam" in contract negotiations.
The union is the Massachusetts Nurses Association; on its website, the Canton-based association says it has more than 23,000 members working in more than 85 different health care facilities across the state.
According to the union, contract negotiations at Lawrence General Hospital have stalled over such issues as staffing, working conditions, wages, and benefits.
The previous contract expired in October but has been extended until late May, the Massachusetts Nurses Association said.
