WGBH Radio will provide morning news on WBOS (92.9 FM), starting May 16, Greater Media Inc. said today.

Headquartered in Braintree, Greater Media is the parent company of 20 radio stations in such markets as Boston, Detroit, and Philadelphia, including WBOS.

Greater Media said that 90-second newscasts will run at 6:15 a.m., 7:15 a.m., and 8:15 a.m. on WBOS's All Music Morning show.

Covering international, national, and local news as well as weather and sports, the newscast will be anchored by Dan Tritle, local Morning Edition host on WBGH's Cape and Islands National Public Radio stations, Greater Media said.

In a statement, WBOS program director David Ginsburg called the collaboration a "unique partnership" and added, "While we are keeping our focus on music in the morning, our audience told us they did want a little bit of news."
