Zoll Medical Corp., which makes resuscitation devices, has been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration to market its AED Pro defibrillator together with the Chelmsford company’s See-Thru CPR technology.
The AED Pro defibrillator is designed to give instantaneous feedback on CPR chest compressions. See-Thru CPR technology allows emergency medical personnel to see a patient’s underlying cardiac rhythm during resuscitation efforts, and eliminates the need to stop CPR to see if defibrillation was successful.
Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of unexpected death in the world, with more than 325,000 related deaths each year in the United States alone. Currently, about 6 percent of victims survive.
