Promotions and new executive hires around the Hub

ECD Systems Inc. said it has appointed Greg Topjian to help lead a new separate business unit as its sales executive. ECD Systems provides anti-piracy and secure sharing software distribution. Today ECD, a privately held company headquartered in Barnstable, said that its Digital Armor product is now operating as a separate business unit with new facilities in Milford. Digital Armor will operate as an independent digital content copy solutions provider, EDC said. Before joining the company, Topjian held sales executive positions at Americom Voice & Data, Acuity, and P2I, EDC said.

MFC Global Investment Management, the asset management division of Manulife Financial Corp., has named Jeffrey Santerre as head of product management in the United States. As a managing director based in Boston, Santerre will report to Frank Saeli, managing director and head of US institutional sales and relationship management. Before joining MFC, Santerre was a vice president on the global product development team of State Street Global Advisors, the investment management arm of State Street Corp.

Boston-based New Balance Athletic Shoe Inc., the Boston-based athletic footwear and apparel company, announced the appointment of Alan Hed as executive vice president international. Hed most recently worked for Levis Strauss & Co., where he held several positions, including the presidency of its Asia Pacific division.

OnForce Inc., a Lexington company that provides an Internet marketplace for on-site computer repair services and technology installations, said that it recently added three executives to its leadership team. They are Maria Battaglia, senior vice president of marketing; Edward McGovern, senior vice president of sales and business development; and George D'Errico, vice president of marketplace operations.

Cerulean Pharma Inc., a Cambridge life sciences company that last week changed its name from Tempo Pharmaceuticals, has announced the appointment of David P. DeMagistris as senior vice president of pharmaceutical sciences and Jean Silveri as senior vice president and general counsel, effective immediately. Before joining Cerulean, which is focused on designing and developing nanoparticle-based drugs, DeMagistris led strategic technology at GlaxoSmithKline. Silveri's resume includes stints at ConjuChem Biotechnologies Inc.and Millennium Pharmaceuticals Inc.

Hydra Biosciences, another Cambridge life sciences company, said it has expanded its executive management team with the appointments of David Kimball as chief scientific officer and Christine Bellon as vice president of intellectual property and legal affairs. Kimball most recently served as senior vice president of discovery at Pharmacopeia. Bellon joins Hydra from Infinity Pharmaceuticals, where she served as assistant general counsel.
