Athenahealth executive is retiring for health reasons

Athenahealth Inc., a Watertown provider of Internet-based business services for doctor practices, said today that chief operating officer and executive vice president James M. MacDonald has decided to retire because of health reasons.
Jonathan Bush, president, chairman and chief executive, will "provide strategic direction and leadership of athenahealth's operations" until MacDonald's successor is named, said the company, which added that MacDonald will assist in the transition and serve in an advisory capacity.
