Hopkinton data storage company EMC Corp. specializes in high-end gear for big business. But the company's Iomega Corp. subsidiary is now adding corporate grade features to its line of external hard drives for home and small business users.
The StorCenter ix2 has a starting price of $300 for one terabyte of storage or $480 for two terabytes. It includes EMC's LifeLine software for managing stored data, and security technology from EMC's RSA subsidiary to lock out viruses and other malware.
Iomega, a major producer of consumer storage gear, was acquired by EMC in April.
