Perini announces $248m in civil contracts

Perini Corp., a Framingham-based civil construction company, said today that it received five contracts for schools, casinos, and highway projects in Florida and Virginia.

The company's James A. Cummings Inc. unit was hired by the School Board of Broward County, Fla., for a $61 million contract to build a high school.

Also in Florida, Osceola County Public Schools awarded the company a $52 million contract for a high school.

Calder Race Course Casino in Miami hired Cummings for a $37 million casino project.

Florida Atlantic University contracted through Perini to help build the $55 million FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Fla.

Perini's Cherry Hill Construction Inc. was hired by the Federal Highway Administration for a $73 million contract in Springfield, Va.

Perini, which also makes bomb-resistant structures for the military, had $1.39 billion in revenue in the second quarter of the year.

Perini shares fell $1.07, or 5.1 percent, to $19.97 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange. (AP
