Sepracor narrows 2008 profit, revenue forecasts
Marlborough pharmaceutical company Sepracor Inc. narrowed its full-year earnings and revenue forecasts today after reporting that its third-quarter profit slid 51 percent on increased operating costs.
Sepracor, which makes respiratory and central nervous disorder treatments, now expects 2008 net income in a range of $4.20 to $4.40 per share. It previously predicted a profit between $4.20 and $4.60 per share.
Adjusted earnings are expected in a range of $1.27 to $1.47 per share.
The company also lowered the high end of its sales outlook. Revenue is now expected between $1.28 billion and $1.33 billion, off from its prior forecast for sales in a range of $1.28 billion to $1.38 billion.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters predict full-year net income of $1.26 per share on revenue of $1.27 billion. Estimates typically exclude one-time items.
Shares of Sepracor lost 1 cent to $11.46 in midday trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market. (AP)
