economist1016.jpg Copyright Clearance Center, a Danvers firm that specializes in licensing services for sharing published information, said that the business news magazine the Economist has selected its Rightslink service.

The service allows the magazine's readers and subscribers to quickly and easily obtain copyright permission online and starting in December, the Economist will also utilize Rigthslink capabilities to allow readers to quickly and easily order article reprints online, said Copyright Clearance Center, adding that customers have used Rightslink to place tens of millions of dollars in licenses, permissions, and reprints.

Rightslink also has real-time reporting capabilities that provide publishers with a comprehensive view of licensing and reprint activity to help them better understand who is licensing their content and how it is being used, the firm said.

The Economist has 1.3 million subscribers around the world, Copyright Clearance Center noted.
