Verizon Communications Inc. said it has completed an expansion program that brings broadband Internet service to thousands of residents in Western Massachusetts.

The expansion affects consumers and businesses in 24 rural communities in Western Massachusetts, the company said.
The project was completely funded by Verizon, which is investing an additional $200 million in Massachusetts this year to expand its broadband network, the company said.

Headquartered in New York, Verizon delivers broadband and other wireline and wireless services to mass market, business, government, and wholesale customers.
