Mount Auburn Hospital of Cambridge said that its Frank Stanton Building is scheduled to open to the public Friday.

The six-story building, which is located at the center of Mount Auburn’s nine-acre campus, is the hospital’s largest construction project in more than 30 years, costing $82 million, the hospital said in a press release.

Home to 40 new inpatient rooms, two new operating rooms, the Conrades Family Critical Care Center, and more, the Stanton Building will also serve as the hospital's new main entrance, the hospital said. (The rendering of the project that appears with this story was provided by the hospital.)

The hospital broke ground on the Stanton Building in September 2006, the hospital said in its press release, and the building was named in honor of the late Frank Stanton, a former president of CBS and a former patient of Mount Auburn who made a generous gift to the hospital.

The Frank Stanton Building was designed by Tsoi/Kobus & Associates of Cambridge, the hospital said.
