Parexel1120.jpg PAREXEL International Corp., a Boston company that provides regulatory consulting and clinical research capabilities to the life sciences industry, said today that it has opened an office in Lima, Peru.

According to PAREXEL, this expansion further strengthens the company's position as one of the largest biopharmaceutical services providers in Latin America for clinical development; PAREXEL said it also has locations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico.

"PAREXEL has had a presence in Latin America since 1997 and a long-term commitment to providing clients with high quality services in the region," Josef H. von Rickenbach, the company's chairman and chief executive, said in a statement. "Due to the increasing globalization of clinical research, client demand for our capabilities in Latin America has been steadily increasing, and over the last seven years, PAREXEL has experienced double-digit growth in the region."

PAREXEL said it operates in 71 locations throughout 52 countries around the world and has more than 9,180 employees.
