Marketer uses the Web to promote Xmas book idea
Edward Boches thinks his family's unusual holiday tradition is great grist for a children's book and now he's using Web marketing skills in hopes of landing a publisher.
As chief creative officer of Mullen, the Wenham-based ad agency, Boches knows a thing or two about marketing. To get his book idea into print, he has devoted his Facebook page to an outline of a story tentatively titled "The Christmas Ladder."
If his social networking space draws enough interest, he figures he can demonstrate to publishers that there is a potential market for his holiday tale.
The tale hangs on a true event in the Boches family history. Nine years ago, the family's first Christmas tree triggered a severe asthma episode in Boches' then three-year-old daughter. The tree had to go, and in its stead, the family decorated a step ladder with white lights and ornaments. It's a tradition the Boches family has kept ever since.

One added bonus, according to Boches, a Christmas step ladder is more environmentally correct than the real McCoy.
