Woods Hole Group, an environmental and engineering consulting firm based in Falmouth, said it has been awarded a US Army Corps of Engineers contract that could be worth $15 million over five years.

The contract will cover projects in a region that stretches from New England to Norfolk, Va., Woods Hole Group said, and it is likely to involve consulting on such things as environmental impact studies, dredging projects, and the monitoring of hazardous and toxic waste sites.

“We are fortunate to secure a contract of this type in these economic times, as it will allow the company to utilize its strengths in the areas of environmental, coastal, and oceanographic consulting services," Bob Hamilton, vice president for business development at Woods Hole Group, said in a statement.
