Coakley cites Texas firm for underpaid wages
Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley has ordered a Texas-based electronics manufacturer to pay $91,000 in restitution and penalties after her office determined that 17 company employees were underpaid at the firm's Woburn facility.
The company is Titan Nexus Inc., which does business as NEO EMS, Coakley's office said in a press release.
"We are going to work with the state to rectify the situation as quickly as possible," a Titan Nexus spokesman said.
The press release noted that Coakley's office began an investigation of the company in October after receiving allegations from employees that they had not been properly paid over a period of several weeks.
As a result of that investigation, the company was ordered to pay nearly $82,000 in restitution to the affected employees along with a $10,000 penalty to the Commonwealth, said Coakley's office, which is responsible for enforcing the payment of wage, minimum wage, and overtime laws in Massachusetts.
