coakley106.jpg Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley said she joined with the attorneys general of 21 other states and the District of Columbia in urging US congressional leaders to change the US Bankruptcy Code so that federal bankruptcy courts can protect families from foreclosure on their homes.

The attorneys general believe that changing the bankruptcy code will reduce home foreclosures, stabilize real estate values, and restore confidence in the financial markets, Coakley's office noted in a press release.
