PROVIDENCE - Rhode Island philanthropist Alan Shawn Feinstein is suing to get his name back on the IMAX theater at the Providence Place Mall.
The theater bore Feinstein's name since it opened in 2003 under an agreement with the IMAX Corp. He claims he paid for naming rights through 2010 in exchange for free tickets for children who participate in his programs.
But Quincy Amusements Inc., the company that bought the cinema last year removed his name, saying it wasn't obligated to continue the deal. It wants the suit dismissed.
Feinstein claims breach of contract in his federal suit. He is asking the court to order the theater's name be restored to Feinstein IMAX Theatre at Providence Place.
He tells The Providence Journal he had no other option. (AP)
