ThingMagic hopes for gridiron glory

F150-108.jpg College football fans might expect Oklahoma's Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford to have a big game tonight in the televised match-up against the University of Florida, but ThingMagic Inc. of Cambridge might also get a chance to shine.

That's because Ford Motor Co. has signed on to be a major sponsor of the game, and some Ford promotions will tout Tool Link, a feature on some Ford 2009 models such as the F-150 that makes use of ThingMagic's radio frequency identification, or RFID, technology and ThingMagic's Mercury5e embedded readers and customized antennas. (A file photo of an earlier version of the F-150 is shown at right.)

According to ThingMagic, Tool Link helps contractors to keep track of tools they have aboard such vehicles.

ThingMagic said Ford is expected to run Tool Link commercials and give Tool Link demonstrations during half-time and pre-game festivities.
