A recession might persuade some folks to live with spots and wrinkles and put off beauty treatments, but an ailing economy hasn't deterred Candela Corp. from debuting a skin rejuvenation device.

Candela, a Wayland company whose product mix includes lasers for cosmetic treatments, said it is introducing the QuadraLASE laser, which it describes as "a total solution for skin rejuvenation."

"We are excited to be offering a unique solution for fractional ablation, one of the fastest growing segments of the aesthetic market," Catherine A. Kniker, senior vice president of marketing and corporate development, said in a statement. "We recognized the restrictions of fractional lasers and are now offering our QuadraLASE system to deliver a more desirable experience to patients and physicians. This advanced skin rejuvenation device will bring a whole new dimension to aesthetic medicine allowing practitioners to diversify treatment capabilities with a single device."
