staples225.jpg Staples Inc. said it is offering free double-sided copies of tax returns as part of a company initiative that urges its customers to "print responsibly."

A Framingham-based retailer of office supplies, Staples said that from April 5 through April 15, it will offer free black and white, double-sided copies – up to 20 pages - of 2008 tax returns.

Staples added in a press release that it is also making it easy for customers to "keep an electronic and secure copy of important documents by offering 100 free scans to PDF documents until July 4 at all its Copy & Print Center locations for customers who purchase a Staples Copy & Print Center USB flash drive."

“We can all save a considerable amount of money and have a positive impact on the environment by taking a few minutes to think before hitting the print button on the copier or computer,” John Burke, Staples senior vice president of business services, said in a statement. “By offering free scans and copies during the tax season, we can help customers keep records of their tax returns both electronically and in hard-copy format while printing responsibly. This is good for the wallet and the environment – and another way Staples is making it easy for customers to save on a wide variety of products and services.”
