Goody's hires Streambank to sell brands
Streambank LLC, a Needham-based consulting firm, said it has been retained to undertake the marketing and sales efforts for the intellectual asset portfolio of Goody’s Family Clothing.
Goody’s recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and said it would liquidate its 282 remaining stores.
“Goody’s Family Clothing offers a unique and valuable trademark portfolio, including the storied Duck Head brand,” Gabe Fried, managing member and founder of Streambank, said in a statement. “These brands, especially the Goody’s name, fill a valuable niche in the apparel retail landscape and represent an opportunity for newcomers or existing firms to grow market share and margin quickly."
A Streambank press release noted that "Goody’s traced its roots to 1953, when M.D. Goodfriend and a partner founded the Athens Outlet Store in Athens, Tenn., selling closeout, irregular, and previous-year fashions."
