Madoff-linked firm says it met Mass. information rule
Cohmad Securities Corp. says it has followed the rules in answering Massachusetts' regulators' complaint that it was slow to answer questions on its ties to Bernard Madoff.
Secretary of State William Galvin filed an administrative complaint in February to revoke Cohmad's state registration, claiming the firm was refusing to provide information about its connections to Madoff, who was a co-owner.
A lawyer for the Massachusetts Securities Division said at a Tuesday hearing Cohmad failed to file a timely answer to Galvin's complaint since no individual from the company signed the response.
But Cohmad's lawyer said the corporation itself endorsed its answer and the company acts as its own agent.
A hearing officer may rule in the next couple of weeks. (AP)
