Skateboarding is coming to TD Banknorth Garden

The TD Banknorth Garden will be the host to a skateboarding event for the first time since 2005, a garden spokeswoman said.

The Dew Tour has scheduled a Boston event scheduled for the garden on July 24 and July 25.

The event will feature an 80 foot-long vert ramp and a 9,600 square foot skate park course, the Dew Tour said, and plans call for feats of skateboarding prowess to be broadcast live on NBC Sports with additional broadcasts on MTV, MTV2, and USA.

The tour's press release included a statement from Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, who said, "With our already strong sports culture, this tour will be a great way to connect with an entirely different demographic."
