The Law Offices of James Sokolove is changing its name to Sokolove Law LLC as it seeks to reinvigorate a 30-year-old brand and expand its nationwide network of affiliated law firms, the Newton-based firm said.

Sokolove Law said in a press release that it is seeking to "add 200 new law firms to its national network of more than 400 affiliates" that practice in wide range of civil litigation issues.

As part of that recruitment effort, the firm is launching a marketing campaign, and one goal of that campaign is to highlight why law firms should consider affiliating with the Sokolove network; that marketing effort includes business-to-business advertising, direct mail, and a revamped website, Sokolove Law said in a press release.

What the firm wants potential law firm affiliates to know is that Sokolove Law has a highly sophisticated screening method for referring cases to affiliated firms, said Cynthia Cooper, Sokolove Law's vice president of corporate communications.

"The cases we turn over are highly screened and ready to litigate," she said. "We don't just get a phone call and refer it to an affiliate."
