Sweet Cupcakes is coming to Harvard Square
Is Harvard Square ready for the Organic Karat and the Red Velvet?
Those are among the menu items that will be available at Sweet Cupcakes, a self-described "cupcake boutique" that is scheduled to open at Zero Brattle Street in late April, the company said in a press release.
Harvard Square is Sweet's second location; its other shop is in the Back Bay, the press release said, and both boutiques promise the "best cupcake experience possible" for man or beast. ("Pupcakes" are also available "for our canine friends," Sweet's online menu says.)
No Twinkies or Hostess Ho-Hos for this crowd. In the view of Sweet owner Courtney Forrester and executive pastry chef Jennifer Warshaw, the humble cupcake deserves to be elevated to a culinary art form and hold pride of place on even the most decadent of dessert trolleys.
Unconvinced? Check out the ingredients of the Red Velvet, which can be found on Sweet's website.
According to the website, the Red Velvet is crafted from Bensdorp Dutch cocoa, then sublimed with cream cheese frosting. The cake itself is the color of a Harvard man's sweater. (We're talking Crimson here, as in red.)
Note to minimalists who can't handle too much of a good thing: The Red Velvet is also available in miniature.
The cupcake beauty shots that appear with this post were taken from Sweet's website, which credits them to photographer Eric Levin of Elevin Studios.
