Clinical Data agrees to sell Cogenics division

Clinical Data Inc., a Newton biotechnology company, said that Beckman Coulter Inc. has agreed to buy its Cogenics division for about $17 million.

"The sale will complete a key element of Clinical Data’s strategic initiative to monetize non-core assets and focus resources on advancing the company’s two late-stage targeted therapeutic programs," Clinical Data said in a press release.

Beckman Coulter is a California-based biomedical testing company.
