Munksjo Decor’s chief executive says the company is closing its Fitchburg factory on June 27 and eliminating about 120 jobs.

CEO Norbert Mix today told employees the economic downturn and the high cost of raw materials is producing unsustainable losses.

The company, which makes base paper for laminate applications used predominantly in the housing market, will maintain its Fitchburg sales and customer service operations.

The Sweden-based company employs about 1,200 people worldwide.
