tripadv416.jpg Just over three-quarters of survey respondents say they sometimes incorporate "green choices" into their travel plans, and 27 percent "intentionally made environmentally-friendly travel choices in the past year."

Those are some findings from a survey of 1,200 respondents by TripAdvisor LLC, a Newton firm that operates a website perhaps best known for its user-generated reviews of hotels and tourist attractions.

According to the survey, Portland, Ore., is the most green-friendly urban travel destination in the United States, and New York City is the least green-friendly; Boston did not place in the top three on either the best or the worst list.

"Although travelers are interested in making environmentally-friendly choices, some are finding options to be scarce," Michele Perry, vice president of global communications for TripAdvisor, said in a statement. "Still, travelers are discovering greener pastures with many even willing to pay more."
