Comcast extends digital transition service program
Comcast said that its “rapid response team” will continue to perform same-day installations for New England consumers who still need a digital TV solution through June 21.
This week, major television stations are required to switch to all-digital TV broadcasts. The transition from analog to digital signals is mostly a nonevent for households with TVs connected to cable services, such as Comcast, or satellite services. But those who are still relying on over-the-air broadcasts need to take action, such as buying a digital TV, subscribing to a cable or satellite service, or acquiring a digital converter box.
Comcast said it originally created the rapid response team to help consumers who needed to take last-minute action to get ready for digital broadcast transition deadline.
In a press release today, Comcast said: "With the extension of the rapid response effort, consumers who call Comcast weekdays by 12:00 p.m. can get their cable TV service installed by the newly created rapid response team the same day. For calls that come in after 12:00 p.m., installation will be scheduled for the next day. If contacted on weekends, Comcast will schedule an installation for the next day."
