Several local hotels said they are banding together to have their used vegetable oil converted into biodiesel fuel.

The hotels participating in the collaboration include the Seaport Hotel, the Lenox Hotel, and the Ramada Inn Boston, the Seaport Hotel said in a press release.

Plans call for Wachusett BIO-MASS, a biofuel manufacturer based in Gardner, to process the used vegetable oil into biodiesel fuel, the press release said.

The press release cited industry data that note that the use of biodiesel fuel helps reduce CO2 emissions that contribute to global warming.
