Add Homer Simpson to the celebrity voices that motorists can elect to hear on their navigation systems.

homer616.jpg TomTom NV, a provider of navigation solutions and digital maps, said it has teamed up with Locutio Voice Technologies and Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising to bring the original voice of Homer Simpson to all TomTom devices via download.

A Dutch company, TomTom has its US headquarters in Concord.

"Starting today, TomTom users can go to www.tomtom.com/simpsons and download the voice for $12.95," TomTom said in a press release.

The release noted that TomTom's portable navigation devices offer more than 70 preloaded voices in 36 languages. Other popular English-speaking celebrities who serve as voice-over guides include Kim Cattrall, John Cleese, Dennis Hopper, and Mr. T, a company spokesman said.

The Homer Simpson voice was recorded by Dan Castellaneta, whose voice plays Homer on the popular TV series.
