Chipmaker Analog Devices Inc. of Norwood will cut 120 jobs next month, as it shuts down its manufacturing facility in Cambridge.

Spokeswoman Maria Tagliaferro said the job cuts are the result of a previously announced plan to consolidate production at the company's Wilmington plant.

The Cambridge factory makes microelectrical-mechanical sensors or MEMS chips, which act as motion detectors in a wide variety of products, from automobile air bags to videogame controllers.
