Millipore is cleared in bribery probe
Millipore Corp., the Billerica life sciences equipment provider, has been cleared in a federal bribery probe, the company said in a routine filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission Wednesday.
The company said it discovered in 2006 that some of the practices at its Indian joint venture may have violated the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
Millipore said it promptly investigated the issue, took corrective measures, and notified federal authorities.
This week, the company said the Securities and Exchange Commission notified the company in May that "its investigation has been completed, and it will not pursue any enforcement action on this matter."
Millipore went on to note that the operations and financial results of the Indian venture are too small to be considered financially material.
