RI airport head sees possibilities at Quonset
The head of the agency that oversees Rhode Island's airports say he's focused on much more than just runway expansion at T.F. Green.
Kevin Dillon, president of the Rhode Island Airport Corp., says while T.F. Green in Warwick remains his priority, he'd also like to maximize benefits at the agency's five other airports.
In particular, he says it's his long-term goal to try to get more cargo carriers to use Quonset Airport in North Kingstown.
He says Quonset would be a good fit for cargo carriers, including Federal Express and United Parcel Service, because it does not have a voluntary midnight curfew like Green. It also has ample space for cargo handling.
In addition, redesign of the highways in the area makes it more accessible. Information from the Providence Journal was used in this report.
