IDC reports on enterprise storage systems market
Worldwide external disk storage systems factory revenues fell 18.3 percent in the second quarter when compared to the same quarter a year ago, IDC reported.
“The enterprise storage systems market continued to feel the impact of current economic conditions, posting its third straight year-over-year decline," Liz Conner, an IDC research analyst for storage systems, said in a statement. "However, certain sweet spots in the market continue to thrive.”
Headquartered in Framingham, IDC is a global intelligence firm that issues a quarterly tracker report on worldwide disk storage systems.
In a press release, IDC reference EMC Corp., a data storage giant based in Hopkinton.
"EMC maintained its lead in the external disk storage systems market with 21.5 percent revenue share in the second quarter, followed by IBM with 14.9 percent revenue share," IDC said. "HP ended in the third position with 11.4 percent market share."
