Quanterix Corp. of Cambridge said that David Okrongly has been appointed chief executive and a member of the company's board of directors.

Okrongly replaces co-founder and interim chief executive Nicholas Naclerio, who will continue serving as chairman of the board, the company said in a press release.

Quanterix is developing a single molecule array technology that allows the behavior of thousands of individual molecules to be observed simultaneously. The hope is that the company's technology will bring a new level of sensitivity and precision to clinical diagnostics, drug development, and life science research.

Okrongly joins Quanterix from Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Division, where he most recently served as senior vice president in charge of the Molecular Diagnostics business unit, Quanterix said.
