The Massachusetts Division of the Unemployment Assistance’s TeleClaim Center, which processes unemployment claims over the phone, will be closed tomorrow, the state agency said.

The TeleClaim Center will be closed to perform a 24-hour conversion process of the unemployment computer systems to meet mandatory federal regulations, the agency said.

The center augmented its usual work week schedule with Saturday hours last October as the recession began resulting in big layoffs, the agency said.

Saturday hours of 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m will resume as usual on Sept 26, the agency said, and the center will reopen Monday for its regular 8:30 a.m.-until-6:30 p.m. schedule.

"Payment of benefits will not be impacted, nor will the Division of Unemployment Assistance’s TeleCert or WebCert systems, which allow claimants to certify their weekly benefits," the agency said. (Globe Staff)
