Evergreen Solar opens European HQ in Berlin
Evergreen Solar Inc., a Marlborough company that makes solar power products with a proprietary technology, said that it has opened a new European headquarters in Berlin, increasing its presence in the German market.
"Evergreen Solar began its European operations in 2002 and became a fully-registered German company in 2004," Evergreen said in a press release. "Since that time, European sales have grown nearly 20 times, equivalent to a 180 percent compound annual growth rate. The new Berlin headquarters will help the company keep pace with the rapid business growth in the European market, particularly in Germany, a country featuring notable incentives for commercial and residential solar installations."
Evergreen has been in the local news of late. A recent Globe story noted that the company has been hurt by the recession, stiff global competition, and plunging prices for solar panels. (Globe Staff)
